Barrier Point

Royal docks, London, 2001
A development of 252 apartments overlooking the Thames Barrier Park.

Barrier Point is the second in a series of collaborative developments with Barratt Homes which represent a departure from the standard architectural solution for such a traditional House-builder. Goddard Manton was asked by Barratt East London to enter into an Architectural competition with them, to develop a strip of land along the western edge of Barrier Park, later to be know as the Barrier Point development. Our proposal for a contemporary high density apartment development was judged to be the best by the LDDC. The buildings at Barrier point address the location boldly. The tower provides a lookout over the river Thames and the cascading balconies and surrounding landscaping integrate the apartments with the formality of the French-designed Barrier Park.
