Canonbury Road

Islington, London, 2016
The redevelopment of 85 Canonbury Road includes the demolition of existing buildings and the erection of 2 new buildings consisting of basement, ground and 4 further upper floors to provide 90 residential units, including townhouses, affordable housing, cycle parking and associated landscaping. 85 Canonbury Road is a prominent triangular site within the London Borough of Islington, close to Highbury Corner. The site was purchased by Notting Hill Home Ownership for the redevelopment and the erection of a new high quality mixed-tenure residential scheme. The scheme was designed in consideration to the response of significant public consultation and to reflect the architectural vernacular of the bordering conservation areas. The buildings are arranged on the site as perimeter blocks providing a continuous street frontage, adopting a similar pattern to the traditional development of the surrounding area. A protected enclosed garden and amenity space for residents occupies the centre of the site. Goddard Manton Architects placed great emphasis on delivering a scheme that provide all residents with homes constructed to the highest level of housing standards for access and adaptability
